Anti-LGBT Republican Lawmaker Resigned After Caught With A Man In His Office

Wes Goodman, a Republican Ohio lawmaker who routinely touted his Christian faith and anti-LGBT views has resigned after he was caught being intimate with a man in his office. Goodman is married to a woman who is assistant director of an annual rally against ending pregnancies known as March for Life.

The legislator who pushed “family values” have been witnessed being intimate with a man inside his office.

Columbus Dispatch reports that the observer told Mike Dittoe, Ohio House Chief of Staff what they saw, and Mr. Dittoe responded by telling Republican House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger, who then met with Goodman.

The 33-year-old Goodman had been branded the “conscience of the conservative movement”, but he has since resigned for “inappropriate conduct”.

He has regularly claimed that “natural marriage” occurs only between a man and a woman, and his campaign website reads that healthy, vibrant, thriving, and values-driven families are the source of Ohio’s proud history and the key of Ohio’s future greatness.

Goodman was elected to represent the 87th District in 2016, and he worked as an aide to US Representative Jim Jordan prior to that.

Mr Jordan has been named in The Human Rights Campaign’s Hall of Shame in 2014 for trying to block marriage equality in the District of Columbia.

Goodman said in a statement when he resigned his House seat that he hadn’t served his constituents “in a way that reflects the best ideals of public service”.

He also said that he sincerely regrets that his actions and choices have kept him from serving his constituents and our state and that he’s sorry for those whom he has let down.
