Birds of Prey screenwriter Christina Hodson and Morgan Howell collaborated with actress Margot Robbie, Josey McNamara and Tom Ackerley of LuckyChap Entertainment to help women writers break into the action and franchise film market.
Well, all six female screenwriters who participated in the screenwriting lab have sold their scripts to major buyers across the entertainment world.
The program ran from November 4 to December 6, 2019, and it was designed to give all six female screenwriters the exposure and experience they needed to sign on to big studio jobs.
Faith Liu, Sue Chung, Eileen Jones, Charmaine DeGraté, Dagny Looper, and Maria Sten are the six women that completed the lab and marked their first major sale. The scripts were bought by big-name studios, including Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures, Blumhouse, New Line, and Thunder Road.
The Lucky Exports Pitch Program was a monumental win for representation in a male-dominated market, and a big victory for feature film sales.
