Probably the most famous climate change campaigner Greta Thunberg and US President Donald Trump were both in New York yesterday for the UN Climate Action Summit, and the teenager was seen glowering at the president as he walked past before he addressed the media.
Trump only sat through a short speech by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the summit, which means that he missed Greta’s heartfelt speech.
He could be seen wearing headphones while he was sitting in the audience with his eyes closed, for which he was accused of “falling asleep” by many.
One person tweeted that Trump tried to intimidate Greta Thunberg by walking into the Climate Change session, and others referred to Trump’s behavior as an attempt to “upstage a teenager” before he fell asleep and left after 15 minutes.
The biggest talking point from the day, however, was Thunberg’s incredible speech:
Even though her speech touched the hearts of millions of people across the world, and even though Trump wasn’t there to hear her words in person, he had his say later. He shared a clip of her speaking, and he sarcastically wrote that “she seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!”
