Simone Biles Won Her 21st World Championship Medal And Is Now The Most Decorated Female Gymnast In History

Superstar gymnast Simone Biles won her 21st World Championship on October 8 in Stuttgart, Germany, aged 22, and this makes her the most decorated female gymnast in ALL of history.

CNN reports that she surpassed retired Russian gymnast Svetlana Khorkina who held the previous record with 20 World Championship medals. To add to that, 15 of the 21 medals won by Biles are gold, making her the only gymnast to hold so many gold World Championship medals.

Team USA competed against other countries, and they were handed the win after the total scores from all participating gymnasts were tallied up. This was Team USA’s fifth consecutive world team title, and even though Biles is already the most decorated gymnast in history, her medal count could potentially grow even before the week is up, as she is set to compete in the Women’s All-Around Final.
