Even though the sounds are the most essential element of a music album, an album is NOT just about the music. We must acknowledge the role of cover art, because the visuals have an important role in defining how we look at the album itself. However, Iranian streaming site Melovaz is not happy with how some albums look, and they were so worried that these album cover might be a “bad influence” on their listeners that they decided to censor them.
Sure, one would believe that these album covers feature some inappropriate scenes, and indeed they do! They feature women!
Melovaz actually went on to remove the women from their own album covers like they don’t even exist.
