These Are The 25 White Men Who Voted To Ban Pregnancy Termination In Alabama

Alabama’s new law which is almost a total ban on abortion is the strictest one in the United States, and it was passed by this group of exclusively white, male politicians.

Even though the law will disproportionately affect black and poor women, because, according to statistics, they are more likely to seek abortions, and are less likely to have the resources to obtain an abortion out-of-state.

25 of the 27 Republicans, all white males, that dominate the 35-seat Alabama Senate voted to pass the bill, and this is what the group in the Senate looks like (as presented on their website):

The Alabama Senate consists of only four women, and they are among the eight Democratic party minority in the upper chamber of the state legislature who did not vote, as well as two Republicans.

The law makes abortion a crime at any stage of pregnancy, and the only exception is if there’s a serious threat to the health of the woman.

Bobby Singleton, the Democratic minority leader, took note of the imbalance, and he said that there are 27 men over on the other side ready to tell women what they can do with their bodies.
