Fox Nation host and conservative commentator Tomi Lahren on Thursday suggested that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) was successful on social media but not in “real life.”

“There’s a difference between being successful on Twitter and social media like Ocasio-Cortez and being relatable on social media platforms and actually being successful in real life,” Lahren said on “Fox & Friends.”

The comment from Lahren came in response to a question from Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt about Ocasio-Cortez’s appeal and how that has potentially shifted the Democratic Party’s platform for presidential candidates.

“Don’t you think Democrats were trying to find their way, trying to find their footing, and then Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is very successful, she’s the darling of the Democratic Party and she is so far left and has these socialist ideas and then the Democrats are saying, ‘Oh, that worked for her, maybe that’s our ticket, bingo,’ ” Earhardt said, before noting the potential Democratic presidential candidates who have supported progressive policies such as “Medicare for all” and the Green New Deal.

“The left keeps going further and further left,” Earhardt continued.

Lahren said none of the Democratic presidential hopefuls offer a path for citizens to live the American dream.

“Listen, the American people, we don’t want a handout,” she said. “We want the government’s hand off [our backs]. We want the ability to achieve the American dream in a safe and secure nation. This crop of Democrats offer none of those things. I don’t think they’re a threat to [President Trump] unless he fails to build the wall.

“We’re in for a real treat in 2020 if this is the crop of Democrats we have to deal with.”

Ocasio-Cortez, 29, is considered to be a rising star in the Democratic Party and became the youngest woman elected to Congress last November. She has more than 2.7 million Twitter followers and consistently engages with people on the platform.
