President Donald Trump said that some Democrat congresswomen from countries whose governments “are a total catastrophe” should “go back and fix their crime-infested and totally broken places from which they came”.
Even though it’s not explicitly clear to whom he refers to, this came after he attacked two women of color for whom he said he doesn’t even know where they come from, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar.
This is what he tweeted:
Mr Trump had claimed yesterday that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar were among a group of Democrats that are being “disrespectful” to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Pelosi herself condemned Trump’s “xenophobic” comments meant to divide the nation, and she tweeted in return that his “great” plan of Making America great again had always been about making America white again.
She added that our diversity is our strength and our unity is our power.
Many people commented that Trump reminds them of “early Hitler-style talk”, and they reminded the President that these women are U.S.A. citizens and are doing the most patriotic thing available to them: questioning and critiquing their government.
Patriotism is much, much more than saluting the flag and singing the national anthem.
Trump said recently that he deals with Nancy Pelosi a lot and they go back and forth and it’s fine, but he thinks that a group of people is being very disrespectful to her, and he thinks Nancy can’t let that go on.
