Woman Refuses To be A Stay-At-Home Mom Unless Her Boyfriend Pays Her $10,000

A young woman and a mom-of-two recently decided to take it to Reddit’s popular Am I The A-hole sub to ask if she was in the wrong for asking her boyfriend to pay her $10,000 to be a stay-at-home mom for her children.

The woman wrote in her post that she would only consider quitting her job if her partner gave her $10k in cash or a regular monthly allowance. Apparently, her boyfriend makes five times what she does, so she believes she doesn’t really have to work. However, she noted that she doesn’t want to completely give up her job, as it might leave her financially vulnerable if they eventually break up.

She continued by saying that she would consider giving up her job if he paid her a sum of $10,000, or gave her an ongoing monthly allowance.

A large number of Redditors were very supportive of her demand and said that she’s smart to look out for her financially – especially considering the fact that they’re not married, and she doesn’t have an equal right to joint assets.

Others shared their own experiences of stay-at-home moms living outside of a marriage that eventually ended up with nothing.

What’s your take on this one? Do you blame her for her demands, or do you think she has every right to ask for the money?
